In 2024, Suizhou’s special-purpose vehicle output reached 164,000 units, with production value increasing 8% year-on-year. The city now accounts for over 10% of China’s total market, meaning one in every ten specialized vehicles nationwide is manufactured in Suizhou.

Suizhou’s strong performance in China special-purpose vehicle capital is underpinned by continuous industrial upgrading and transformation.
At the production workshop, dozens of intelligent robotic arms are welding truck body panels.
“Truck bodies involve a large number of weld points, and traditional manual welding is prone to deviations,” said Chen Yong, general manager of the company. “Robotic welding significantly improves both efficiency and product quality.”
In recent years, the company has invested RMB 130 million in industrial upgrading, achieving over 80% automation across key processes, including cutting and welding.
Embracing Intelligent and Digital Transformation
Across Suizhou, special-purpose vehicle manufacturers are accelerating the adoption of intelligent production, networked management, and digital operations. At the new energy commercial vehicle production line of Hubei Chengli Group, a leading local enterprise, workers focus on assembling vehicle components in a workshop free from the noise of heavy welding. Nearby, dozens of completed new energy sanitation trucks and refuse collection vehicles stand neatly lined up, ready for delivery.
“Our core strength lies in integrated vehicle design,” said Li Xianghong, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chengli Group’s New Energy Division. To address common issues found in traditional modified electric vehicles—such as inefficient battery layouts, insufficient structural strength, and higher failure rates—the company has developed multiple dedicated new energy chassis platforms in recent years, including 4.5-tonne and 8-tonne models.
These platforms support tailored vehicle solutions for different application scenarios, enabling customers to benefit from comprehensive customization services.
Currently, Hubei CLW Group offers 156 new energy vehicle models, with average monthly sales approaching 200 units. Order intake in the first half of this year has exceeded RMB 360 million.
